SCOPE’s Community Partnership Resources
Building partnerships in your community.
Children live in communities where they encounter a large variety of influences: from their schools, to the ads they see, to the types of foods they can access, to the role models they look up to. To be effective, efforts to make communities healthier have to involve all the sectors of a community that influence children and their families.
SCOPE’s model of action is based on the Community-Based Participatory Research approach which focuses on creating strong and sustainable partnerships within communities – involving everyone and collaborating to ensure everyone’s voice is heard, and that positive changes are supported throughout the community.
See our Engaging Communities section for information and suggestions for building partnerships to support Live 5-2-1-0 in your own community.
We have also developed some resources that help to explain what SCOPE does and why the Live 5-2-1-0 message is important – you can use these to educate other stakeholders in your community about the issue of childhood obesity and its chronic health consequences, and get them on board to do something about it!
We know that being able to share compelling, accurate and concise information is important when trying to get new partners on board. Our 2-page SCOPE & Live 5-2-1-0 Info Sheet is a quick summary of the Live 5-2-1-0 message and collaborative approach to community prevention. You can access this Info Sheet via the ‘Download Page’ link below.
To help inspire families and stakeholders to get excited about the Live 5-2-1-0 message and become advocates in their community, we created a short 2-minute video called “Just One Thing”. You can show this video as part of presentations or local programs, and we encourage you to embed it on your own local website and share through your social media too!
