The Land of Plenty
Active Comox Valley (ACV), in collaboration with local municipalities, recreation departments, and interested citizens in the Comox Valley of Vancouver Island, promotes healthy lifestyles and community spirit through physical activity. They partnered with SCOPE in 2015 in an effort to build healthier communities for children and families. Since adopting Live 5-2-1-0, ACV and its community stakeholders have been hard at work enhancing knowledge and awareness of healthy behaviours and creating environments where the healthy choice is the easy choice for kids.
Sharing & Supporting Live 5-2-1-0
Active Comox Valley, which is funded by the Comox Valley Regional District, and its partner agencies have adopted and adapted Live 5-2-1-0 resources from other Live 5-2-1-0 partner communities, such as Live 5-2-1-0 Playboxes. They are also in the process of strategizing innovative ways to promote healthy eating and physical activity in the region.
Here are just a few examples of how Live 5-2-1-0 is being shared and supported in the Comox Valley:
- Live 5-2-1-0 Playbox in Comox Valley Regional District’s Goose Spit Park
- Live 5-2-1-0 message shared on the Active Comox Valley website and through social media
- Live 5-2-1-0 posters and resources displayed in recreation centres
